from me > to we > to common.unity
Dear Can & Özel Sezin Team,
Thank you for taking the time and care to share your journey with us. It is so inspirational to find others on the way that have realized the need for community and sensed the hidden power it holds to truly transform our lives.
The link between education and community is a critical one. We are very excited by the prospect of working together with you to navigate the pathless path to building a strong and sustainable community that supports your educational mission.
As noted during our meeting, the journey of me, to we, to unity is a very powerful process we have used and optimized over the years to set the right foundation for sustainable transformation. It takes place over 3 stages that will help you experience better relationships and deeper connection with yourself, your close circles, and your community. At its core, it is a deep personal and collective exploration of the stories we tell ourselves and each other, which is something that must happen consciously for the bonds of community to properly form.
This process is loosely based on the Public Narrative* method developed by Harvard University professor Marshall Ganz throughout his long career as an organizer for several movements that shaped the history of culture and society.
Facilitated by Eda Carmikli and Markus Lehto, in a combination of In Real Life and online sessions, it will be a guided, yet open ended and open hearted, journey into your personal and collective transformation and evolution.
Our intention is to tune our hearts towards more connection, trust, and a culture where we can join our most inspired ideas into new realities.
“We need each other and our diversity of gifts to make life whole”. Mark Nepo
Here you will find more information about the process and the steps of our proposal.

What to expect…

This is a journey of re-connecting to people and re-aligning to the qualities that make life meaningful. It is a unique chance to invest into relationships and begin co-creating your community in real time, in real life, just as it should be.

Our stories connect us to our reality. But too often we just tell our bio or CV, and fail to leave out the more important details that have actually made us who we are. When we allow ourselves to share our values and inner drivers authentically, we create opportunities for synergy, serendipity, and miracles to become part of our reality. That is the power of our shared story, and why this work is important to all of us.

Education is not limited to the school. Learning is continuous and we can all learn to do more, in different ways, together. Many of the key design ingredients for strong community are already present at Sezin School. Together we will explore how these can be further activated and developed to create a flourishing core and extended community that enhances the learning experience for life.

With all that we’ve been through (and are still going through), from the pandemic to the politics, to the sheer speed of change, we need each other more than ever. In a world that is pulling us apart, we must create opportunities for stronger cohesion and connection. This journey is about the who, how, and here of it all! It will be facilitated by Eda Carmikli and Markus Lehto, who have been creating intentional communities and global collaborative ventures since 2015 as the co-founders of Joint Idea, Life Works Labs, and Love Mafia.
“*Public narrative is a leadership art composed of three elements: a story of self, a story of us, and a story of now. Stories not only teach us how to act – they inspire us to act. Stories communicate our values through the language of the heart, our emotions. By telling our personal stories of challenges we have faced, choices we have made, and what we learned from the outcomes we can inspire others and share our own wisdom. Because stories allow us to express our values not as abstract principles, but as lived experience, they have the power to move others.”
